The TWO strikers Newcastle will turn to after missing out on Tammy Abraham

It has been announced today that we have missed out on the loan signing of Tammy Abraham, with the promising Chelsea striker opting for a move to Swansea instead.

With this in mind, Rafa Benitez will waste no time plotting his next move and here are two names we expect Newcastle to turn to:

Andre Gray

The Burnley striker was been heavily linked with a move to Newcastle last month, with local press confirming Benitez’s interest.

Our interest may have appeared to go quiet during our pursuit of Abraham, but I fully expect Newcastle to revisit a deal for Gray, who is entering the final year of his contract at Burnley and, with that in mind, looks like a player they may cash in on.

With 9 goals in the Premier League last season he wasn’t prolific (neither were Burnley, mind), but his pace, willing runs and room for improvement at 25 would make him a handy addition to our front-line.

Vincent Aboubakar

The Porto striker has been heavily linked with a move to Newcastle this week, making me wonder, have the club already identified him as an alternative after failing to lure Abraham?

The Northern Echo have said as much this morning, claiming Benitez is now pressing ahead for a deal with the Cameroonian, with Newcastle believed to be ‘confident’ of sealing a £9m deal for the 25-year-old.

Aboubakar scored 20 goals on loan at Besiktas last season, with SIX of those coming at the highest level in Europa League and Champions League outings.

He possess a blend of power and pace that could see him made for the Premier League, and at £9m, in a market full of inflated fees, he’s bargain to be had who could excel on Tyneside.

Time will tell, but following Abraham’s snub, these two strikers are ones to watch as Benitez steps up his striker hunt this summer.
