Why NUFC fans must not panic following last night’s ‘news’ on Rafa Benitez’s future

After worrying reports emerged last night concerning the future of Rafa Benitez, here’s our take on the current ‘situation’:

Claims that Rafa is frustrated (due to the lack of signings) are fair, I imagine he is, but suggestions from the Daily Mail that he could be about quit are way over the top, seeing them them unnecessarily stir the pot to sell papers.

It’s clear that Benitez wants transfers done early this summer, so our inability to pull off any signings so far will have frustrated him, but I believe Rafa making his frustrations known simply serves as a smart and timely warning to the board.

He won’t be threatening to quit, but he will be demanding that the club pull their fingers out & deliver what they promised him. In light of this, I wouldn’t be surprised to see the club react & deliver some signings over the coming week or so.

I do not believe that Rafa’s future is currently in doubt, but if the club continue to take their time over transfers, further derailing Rafa’s recruitment drive, frustrations will heighten & we may have a problem.

No need to panic, but it’s time for NUFC to nip this in the bud & deliver the goods.
