Sky Sports’ Keith Downie has confirmed a transfer breakthrough for Newcastle United in the last few moments, revealing that an £8.7m deal for Florian Lejeune will be done within the next 48 hours after terms were finally agreed with Eibar.
The signing of Lejeune was expected to be done and dusted by now, however Newcastle were initially keen to pay the £8.7m fee in installments, whilst Eibar wanted the payment made upfront.

It now appears that an agreement was finally struck over the weekend, with Lejeune expected to be finally confirmed as a Newcastle United player within the next 48 hours.
The 26-year-old Frenchman stands 6ft 3 tall and has been described as ‘tailor-made’ for the Premier League according to Sky Sports’ La Liga pundit Terry Gibson after enjoying an impressive season in Spain.
Finally a breakthrough it seems! Let’s hope this creates a snowball effect for many more signings to come.
