BREAKING: Vurnon Anita signs for NUFC’s former Championship rivals on a three-year-deal

News has broke in the last few moments that former NUFC defender Vurnon Anita has joined Leeds United on a free transfer, signing a three-year deal with the club following his release from Newcastle this summer.

Following his £7m arrival from Ajax in 2012, Anita played 155 times in Black and White, including 27 Sky Bet Championship appearances in last season’s promotion winning campaign.

Anita’s 5-year stint on Tyneside came to an end this summer, with the Dutchman failing to be offered a new contract and we wish him all the best in his ventures with Leeds United – he always gave his all and has been a good servant for the club.

Whilst some suggest that Anita deserved a new deal, I believe he would have struggled with the pace of the Premier League, making our decision to move him on the right one, but I expect him to be a very good job in the Championship for Leeds.

Good luck big Vurn!
