CONFIRMED – Rafa Benitez opens discussions to bring Spanish speedstar to NUFC

The Chronicle have confirmed today that Newcastle United are interested in signing Middlesbrough’s Spanish speedstar Adama Traore, with the two clubs opening discussions for the winger over the last few days.

Middlesbrough saw a £5m bid rejected for Karl Darlow yesterday, but are expected to return with an improved offer, creating the possibility that Traore could be involved in a deal that sees Karl Darlow move to Teesside.

Traore showed flashes of brilliance in a lacklustre Middlesborough side last season, with his frightening pace, power and ability to take a man on with ease catching the eye.

It must be said that his end product left a lot to be desired, seeing him register just one assist all season, however his potential is there for all to see and Benitez could the man to nurture that talent.

Fans are split on this one – the 21-year-old does still have a lot to learn –  but I for one think he would get bums off seats and give us the pace and flair our team so desperately needs; only Eden Hazard and Wilfried Zaha took on more players last season.
