Newcastle United legend Malcolm Macdonald has launched a scathing attack on Aleksandar Mitrovic, stating he would ‘get him out as quickly as possible’, claiming the Serbian ‘hasn’t got a clue’ in a recent interview with The Chronicle.
Mitrovic divides opinion and righty so, and whilst SuperMac does deliver a few home truths, we believe some of his comments are overly harsh towards the young Serbian:
Malcom MacDonald on Aleksandar Mitrovic..
Some very harsh comments here!

I admit to having doubts over Mitrovic’s ability to become a top striker – he misses too many chances – but to say ‘he hasn’t got a clue’ is a little harsh? He’s 22 and it’s also interesting to see Macdonald slate his hold up play; which is arguably his best trait?
“I’d get him out as quickly as possible. He doesn’t have a clue, he really doesn’t have a clue.
“He just doesn’t get it… If anything Mitrovic has gone backwards. Whatever he does in internationals is no relevance to Newcastle
“On what he’s done this past season I wouldn’t have him in the club, he’s just taking up room.
“To finish with a tally of four – in his position I would have been embarrassed.”
“He wasn’t able to do it at Championship level, he’s not going to do it at the Premier League level. They [Premier league defenders] will make him look like a fool.”
Let us know your thoughts. Was SuperMac spot on or is his assessment over the top?
Bit harsh supermac you could have become a Toon Legend but for your greed , Mito is 100% black and white . Now fck off

Shaun, spot on mate!!! I will second you thought, **** off SuperMac! Just because you were a good player back in the stone ages doesn’t make you an expert !

I like the player as a character but I agree that he isn’t good enough. He was missing sitters in the championship and the team will create less chances in the PL.SuperMac could have been more diplomatic but what he says is correct.

Didn’t Mitrovic already score nine premier league goals, in a struggling Newcastle side, in his first year in England? You know, that season when he outscored Rooney, Ozil, de Bruyne, Coutinho, Sturridge, Sterling, Mata, Eriksen, Iheanacho, Toure, and so on. Doofuss.

Supermac is a Toon legend and his assessment is spot on!

Supermac was my hero back in the 70s and all he wants is the best for nufc. I also like mitro for his passion but yes he needs to be more clinacle in front of goal and if he gets that we could have another hero playing at number 9

Love mitro
Love supermac but find his comments pretty hash about a young lad still learning his trade I think it’s obvious the raw talent is there and his commitment to the toon seems genuine
Could have left when we were relegated means a lot to me.

I wouldn’t argue with one of the best strikers Newcastle ever had.

Everyone you quoted were midfielders or crocked… I love Mitro, i think he has the heart, the passion i think his hold up play is sterling… But i have to question his importance and value in a 1 up front system in the prem… if we can get 10-15 mil towards a 20 a season striker for him in an already bloated squad that will be difficult to shift i’d have to say good bye

Mac DID it. Mitro has done the opposite.
No denying his faith to the cause but Supermac’s right.
The returns have been pathetic

What ridiculous bullshit comparing his returns to injury hit players (I note you dont do goals per game) or midfield men or wingers, NOT like with like
He scored more than Mourinho or John Motson too. Is that a positive ?

Sorry but people talk about a 22 year old as a “young lad”. If he can’t hack it in the EPL by 22 then he’s never going to make it. Great attitude, but not good enough I’m afraid.
