Lee Ryder offers reassuring update after a conversation with Rafa Benitez yesterday

The Chronicle’s Lee Ryder has offered a reassuring update to NUFC fans following a conversation with Rafa Benitez at yesterday’s 1892 cup at the club’s Academy, reporting that the United boss is determined, committed and in good spirits.

The Daily Mail’s North-East correspondent Craig Hope reported yesterday that Benitez had become increasingly concerned by our lack of transfer activity, however Lee Ryder has offered some reassurance for us all, stating the following on his Facebook page last night:

“Update on NUFC transfer business…

Spent a little bit of time with Rafa Benitez at the Academy today. While the club have been frustrated with the lack of done deals Rafa seemed in good spirits.

Seems very determined to get players in and said the club were working hard to make that happen.

The summer window is certainly testing Newcastle right now but seems to be a belief they will get what they need this summer.

Newcastle still have deals on the table for players so it’s very much a case of watch this space.”

Benitez is bound to be frustrated, but it is a boost to hear that he is in good spirits, remaining determined to bring in the necessary signings this summer and committed to the cause.

Make no mistake, Newcastle must get moving soon – with Benitez believed to want another 6 or 7 in this summer – however it is a welcome boost to hear that the gaffer is remaining optimistic after reports have suggested he has otherwise.
