NUFC forward set for exit after attracting interest from Villa, Sunderland, Forest and Birmingham

Newcastle United striker Daryl Murphy looks set to leave the club this summer and a host of Championship clubs have joined the race for his signature, with Sunderland, Aston Villa, Nottingham Forest and Birmingham all showing interest according to the Shields Gazette.

Murphy bagged 6 goals last term but has been told by Rafa Benitez that the club will listen to offers for him this summer, which is understandable given the striker turns 35 next season and would be unlikely to receive any game time in the top flight.

Whilst Championship trio Aston Villa, Nottingham Forest and Birmingham City have been credited with an interest in the Irishman today, reports have suggested Sunderland have made a loan offer.

I’d be amazed if we agreed to loan him out. There is clearly several clubs interested and Newcastle are likely to be demand a small fee for his permanent signature.

I would have no issue with Murphy heading to Sunderland, he’s been a mode professional during his time at Newcastle and it’d appear to be a move that’d suit all parties, however a loan deal makes little sense.
