The Liverpool Echo have revealed that Everton have had a bid in excess of £6m accepted by Newcastle for highly-rated defender Lewis Gibson.
It was reported last week that The Blues were in ‘advanced talks’ to sign the left-back, and it has now been confirmed that the big spending Everton have struck a deal with Newcastle for one of our brightest young talents.
Lewis Gibson likely to be sold by #nufc . Three Premier League clubs in for him including #EFC . Could be upwards of £6million fee

The Echo state Everton are now hoping to convince the 17-year-old to ignore late interest from Tottenham and join their under-23s set up.
Gibson is an England U-17 international and had enjoyed an impressive start to life on Tyneside, having shone in the U-18’s and, quite impressively, in Peter Beardsley’s U-23 side as a 16-year old.
Given he’s considered to be one of the top youngsters in the country, Gibson’s exit would be deemed a blow, however the £6m received would be added to Benitez’s summer transfer kitty, with Rafa set to gain ‘every penny’ from player sales.
He wants to leave so they have to let him go…..
Everton and Spurs do however appear to be offering him a real footballers salary rather than the £25 per week youth opportunities scheme at Newcastle..
