Rafa Benitez tells NUFC fans what they can expect from imminent new signing Jacob Murphy

Rafa Benitez has spoken out about imminent new arrival Jacob Murphy, telling Newcastle United fans that they can expect ‘pace and goals’ from the 22-year old winger.

After Newcastle agreed a £12m fee with Norwich, the England U-21 star completed his Newcastle United medical and agreed personal terms yesterday, with Murphy expected to be announced as a Newcastle United player any moment now.

Here’s what Benitez had to say about Murphy, in an interview that all but confirms the wingers signing:

“Sometimes, when you are looking for a player, you are thinking if they are technically good enough, or if they have pace or can score goals or are good tactically,”

“In this case, the main thing is that we have a player who has pace and can score goals, but wants to play for Newcastle United.

“That’s a huge advantage. He will be working so hard trying to impress our fans.”

“We will see if he can reproduce his performances of the Championship in the Premier League- he has the potential to do that.”

“It will help the competition in the team.”

The blend of pace, goals and Murphy’s desire to impress at his boyhood club is an exciting mix, with the latter being a vital trait for any Newcastle player ahead of the upcoming season.

We cannot afford any passengers in the Premier League next season, and it seems Murphy has the potential to bring a nice blend of flair and fight to the table.

Now we just await his official unveiling. Watch this space folks!
