Benitez targeting £10m move for Napoli midfielder – Southampton & West Brom also interested

Rafa Benitez could be set to raid his former club Napoli according to reports this morning, with Newcastle said to be lining up a £10m move for Brazilian midfielder Allan.

Southampton and West Brom are also believed to hold an interest in the 26-year old, however you’d hope Benitez would be capable of striking a deal with the club he used to manage.

Allan is a holding midfielder who was a regular fixture in Napoli’s team last season, playing 39 games in all competitions for the Italian giants, however they are believed to be willing to cash in for the right price according to The Sun.

Benitez, who will know the Italian league well, believes the diminutive Brazilian can adapt immediately to English football after proving himself in Serie A and will look to tempt Napoli into a quick sale.

Whilst Isaac Hayden looks a very promising prospect, there is little doubt that we would benefit from a quality defensive midfielder to play alongside Jonjo Shelvey next season and the Brazilian – who made the most ball recoveries in Europe recently – could be his perfect partner.

Time will tell if this rumour holds any substance, but it certainly makes sense to us.
