Transfer talk – a round up of today’s NUFC transfer gossip – 27/07/2017

Today’s round up of all NUFC related transfer talk:

  • Lee Ryder from The Chronicle has confirmed that NUFC hope to announce the signing of Borussia Dortmund midfielder Mikel Merino ‘in the next 24 hours’, with Benitez confirming last night he is ‘close’ to signing – he will join on a loan deal with an obligation to buy.
  •  Rafa Benitez is set to step up his attempts to sign a new goalkeeper, with Newcastle set to enter talks to sign West Ham’s Adrian – in a deal that could see Karl Darlow go the other way (The Chronicle)
  • Everton have completed the signing of highly-rated Newcastle U-23 full-back Lewis Gibson, with the 17-year old joining for £6m on a three-year deal.

  • Rafa Benitez has admitted that Newcastle may have to sell players this summer before they can bring anymore in with the United squad currently too big according to the Spaniard (Shields Gazette).
  • Emmanuel Riviere could finally be set to end his NUFC nightmare, with Turkish side Osmanlispor and French outfit Metz battling it out for his signature.
  • Newcastle have became bookies favourites to sign Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi on loan, with Ladbrokes offering odds of 4/1 for the Belgian to link up with Rafa Benitez this summer.
