Transfer talk – a round up of today’s NUFC transfer gossip – 28/07/2017

Today’s round up of all NUFC related transfer talk:

  • Newcastle have today confirmed their FIFTH summer signing, confirming a deal for Spanish U-21 star Mikel Merino who joins on loan with a view to a permanent deal next summer.
  • According to the Northern Echo, Newcastle have backed away from any deal for Benfica’s Andreas Samaris as they felt ‘the deal wasn’t right’.
  • National press have credited NUFC with an interest in Everton duo James McCarthy and Oumar Niasse – with The Sun claiming the Senegalese flop could be available for a cut-price fee this summer.

  • Emmanuel Riviere looks set to seal his NUFC exit, with Metz closing in on the Frenchman’s signature after beating off interest from Turkish side Osmanlispor (L’Equipe).
  • Newcastle have made an official bid of €4m for Udinese’s Greek international goalkeeper Orestis Karnezis according to Italian reports (Calciomercato).
  • According to Portuguese report ‘O Jogo’, Newcastle have been offered the chance to sign Benfica winger Andre Carrillo – but will face competition from Crystal Palace, Stoke, Watford and Huddersfield for his signature.
  • French reports claim Saint Etienne are eyeing a move for NUFC’s transfer listed left-back Massaido Haidara.
