Sky Sports: Newcastle a 'likely destination' for Serie A goalkeeper
According to Sky Sports Italia, Udinese goalkeeper Orestis Karnezis could be set for a move to Newcastle, after reports over the weekend claim that a £3.5m offer has been made for the Greek international.
Karnezis has been previously linked with a move to Tyneside this summer, and with Benitez's interest in Willy Caballero, Pepe Reina and Joe Hart failing to come to fruition, the 32-year old stopper could be his alternate target.
Udinese are believed to have rejected a loan offer from Napoli over the weekend for Karnezis, with Sky claiming the Newcastle is now his likely destination.
We take such rumours with a pinch of salt, but given Udinese have not only signed a new goalkeeper over the past week but also left the Greek international out of the squad in their latest pre-season friendly, it certainly looks as if the 6ft 3' goalkeeper is on his way out.
