The Chronicle have confirmed that Premier League duo Everton and Crystal Palace hold ‘serious interest’ over the potential permanent signing of highly rated Newcastle goalkeeper Freddie Woodman.
The England U-20 international had an extremely impressive summer, starring in England’s World Cup success as well as putting in some assured displays when handed the chance over pre-season.

Woodman has the makings of a future England no.1, so this is concerning news, however I fail to see why a move to either club would benefit him at this stage – with the 20-year old considered to be the club’s future number one.
With Benitez looking to sign another senior goalkeeper this summer, it has been reported that he is eager to be loaned out in order to gain some vital first team experience, however Everton and Crystal Palace appear to have other ideas and are eyeing a permanent deal to take him away from St. James’ Park for good.
After several clubs were said to be circling for his signature last summer, Woodman signed a four-year deal with the club last summer, meaning Newcastle hold all the cards over his potential sale – meaning he would be much harder to prize away than recently departed defender Lewis Gibson (who was able to opt out of his NUFC scholarship).
