Newcastle United have been drawn to face Nottingham Forest in the second round of the Carabo Cup (League Cup) and will take on their former Championship rivals at St. James’ Park later this month.
Not only will we receive home comforts, but we will also see the return of former striker Daryl Murphy to St. James’ Park, after he completed a move to Forest earlier this summer.

An interesting draw given ourselves and Nottingham Forest were involved in a rather tasty encounter in the Championship at St. James’ Park last season, with the everyone involved with Newcastle United determined to right the wrongs of our 2-1 defeat at the City Ground last December – remembered for Steve Martin’s appalling referring display, wrongfully sending off Paul Dummett and Jonjo Shelvey.
Thankfully, last time out at St. James’ we saw them off 3-1 and Rafa Benitez will be looking for another victory to see us into the 3rd round of the Carabo Cup.
The game will take place later this month and tickets will be on sale in due course.
