According to reports from the Daily Mirror, Newcastle United have made approaches for the duo of Lucas Perez and Jack Wilshere.
Newcastle United put in a valiant effort in their Premier League opener against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday but a moment of idiocy from captain Jonjo Shelvey meant that the Magpies went on to suffer a very disappointing 2-0 defeat at the end.
While Shelvey’s stupid red card certainly put Newcastle’s hopes of getting something out of the game into jeopardy, it also has to be said that the Magpies seemed to lack the bit of quality going forward to pose any trouble to the Tottenham backline.
As a result, strengthening the attacking lineup will be one of the main priorities for manager Rafa Benitez before the end of the summer transfer window and now according to reports from the Daily Mirror, claims are being made that the Spaniard is considering a double swoop from Arsenal.
Newcastle are said to be eyeing up a move for Lucas Perez as well as Jack Wilshere in the coming days and given that the two players are seemingly surplus to requirements at the Emirates Stadium, the Tyneside based outfit stand a chance of signing them.
Perez and Wilshere, if fit, are quality players on their day and the two would surely be welcome additions to St. James’ Park.
