According to reports from the Chronicle, Newcastle United will have to offload Tim Krul first before bringing in a new goalkeeper to the club.
Rafael Benitez allowed Matz Sels to leave for Anderlecht this summer and he is also said to be keen on offloading the duo of Tim Krul and Karl Darlow.
The departures of Krul and Darlow will mean that Benitez will have to sign a new goalkeeper in order to provide adequate cover for first choice Rob Elliot but the Spaniard has been handed a blow in his hopes of bringing in a custodian to the club soon.
If reports from the Chronicle are to be believed, Benitez has been told that he needs to get rid of Krul first in order to then sign a new goalkeeper and as a result, the 57-year-old has not been able to make his moves in the market.
Krul is attracting the interest from Benfica in recent times and Benitez will be hopeful that the Portuguese giants follow up on their initial interest as soon as possible, with the Magpies boss desperate to get rid of players currently surplus to requirements.
