According to reports, Newcastle United are currently leading the race to secure the services of Burnley striker Ashley Barnes.
Newcastle United will surely have to strengthen their weak looking attack this summer in order to be able to stand a chance of avoiding the drop during the current campaign and Burnley star Ashley Barnes has recently been linked with a move to St. James’ Park.
Barnes has reportedly been made available for a transfer following the record breaking arrival of Chris Wood to Burnley from Leeds United and Newcastle certainly stand a good chance of signing the 27-year-old.
Now in a further update, reports have claimed that Newcastle are currently leading the likes of Leeds United, Middlesbrough and Huddersfield Town in the race to acquire the services of Barnes.
With only 14 goals in 98 appearances for Burnley, Barnes is by no means the most prolific striker in the world and it remains to be seen as to whether the former Brighton man will be a hit at St. James’ Park if indeed he joins the Magpies.
