According to reports from the Shields Gazette, Newcastle United have held talks with Chelsea over a potential loan signing of Loic Remy.
Newcastle United have failed to find the back of the net so far this season in the Premier League and it is clear to see that the Magpies’ attacking department needs strengthening if they are to avoid being involved in a relegation battle during the current campaign.
As a result, Newcastle are currently in the market to sign a new striker and high profile names such as Islam Slimani and Stevan Jovetic have recently been linked with a move to St. James’ Park.
Now in fresh rumors from the Shields Gazette, it is being claimed that Newcastle are also exploring the possibility of signing Loic Remy and that they are currently in discussions with Chelsea over a season-long loan move for the French international.
Newcastle United fans are well aware of Remy’s qualities as the striker scored an impressive 14 goals in 27 appearances during his loan spell at the club back in 2013 but he has struggled to replicate such form during his subsequent spells at Chelsea and Crystal Palace due to injuries as well as lack of opportunities.
It is now clear to see that Remy is surplus to requirements at Chelsea and a move to Newcastle this season might just be ideal for the 30-year-old to regain his goalscoring touch.
