Newcastle United striker Aleksandar Mitrovic has expressed his desire to stay put at St. James’ Park this summer.
Aleksandar Mitrovic has managed to win over the fans since his arrival to Newcastle United back in the summer of 2015 due to his commitment on the pitch but as a result of his volatile temperament, the Serbian does not quite seem to have the trust of manager Rafael Benitez.
Mitrovic featured very sparingly for Newcastle United last season in the Championship and he seems to have been made available for a transfer this summer, despite the striker netting in the Magpies’ 3-0 victory over West Ham United on Saturday.
However, Newcastle fans will surely like to see Mitrovic given another chance to prove himself at St. James’ Park and the 22-year-old has gone on to admit after the clash against West Ham that he would be happy to stay put at Tyneside if the club decide to keep him.
Mitrovic told the Chronicle, “You never know what will happen on transfer deadline day. At the moment I am here. My head is here.
“If they tell me I am staying I will be very happy. At the moment I am here. I have had a lot of options but they (the club) decided they need me. So I try to fight and earn more minutes every game.
“I always enjoy playing here because the fans are amazing. It’s always a special feeling. And since the beginning, I have had a special relationship with the fans. I hope that will continue and I get goals to make them happy.”
