According to reports from the Chronicle, Newcastle United have agreed a deal to sell Siem De Jong to Ajax Amsterdam in a deal of around £4million.
A lot was expected from Siem De Jong after he made a £7million move from Ajax Amsterdam to Newcastle United back in the summer of 2014 and understandably so, as the attacking midfielder boasted a brilliant record in the Eredivisie.
As it has turned out though, De Jong’s time at St. James’ Park has proven to be an unmitigated disaster as the Dutch international has barely featured at all for the Magpies in his three years with the club and is now set to be finally leaving Tyneside.
As reported by the Chronicle, Newcastle United have agreed the transfer of the 28-year-old back to Ajax for a fee believed to be in the region of around £4million and the deal is said to be ‘definitely’ completed soon.
The departure of De Jong of will probably be a welcome move for everyone involved and the player will now look to revive his career back in the Netherlands, where he seems most comfortable.
