According to Diario Olé, via Peter Coates of Golazo Argentino, Newcastle United are hours away from completing a deal for left-back Nicolás Tagliafico.

Newcastle United fans should expect a host of players to be arriving at St. James’ Park over the next few days and manager Rafael Benitez is currently hoping one of the recruits will be a new left-back.

With Achraf Lazaar set to be leaving this summer while Paul Dummett currently out injured till November, Newcastle certainly need to bring in a new left-sided defender in the next 72 hours and one of the names that have been strongly linked with the Magpies recently is Nicolás Tagliafico.

Tagliafico is currently plying his trade for Argentine side Independiente and the 24-year-old has been touted as a star for the future, having already won a call-up to the national team earlier this year.

Now in an update to Newcastle’s pursuit of Tagliafico, the Argentine media have claimed that the Premier League side are hours away of acquiring the services of the defender and he could certainly be a huge coup for Newcastle if the transfer goes ahead.
