According to reports from French outlet Ouest France, Newcastle United have launched an enquiry over the potential signing of Angers goalkeeper Denis Petrić.
With Tim Krul set to leave for Brighton & Hove Albion, Newcastle United will need to sign a new goalkeeper within the next few hours and a host of names have already been linked with the Magpies.
Napoli custodian Rafael Cabral was the latest custodian to be touted with a move to Newcastle and now according to fresh reports emerging out of France, it has been claimed that the Magpies are currently planning a swoop for Angers goalkeeper Denis Petric.
Petric only joined Angers last season but having fallen behind the likes of Alexandre Letellier and Mathieu Michel in the pecking order, the 29-year-old made only 3 appearances last season.
As a result, it has widely been reported that Petric could be on the move away from the Ligue 1 side this summer and Newcastle have emerged as a surprise potential destination for the Serbian.
Petric is certainly not a well known name to fans in England but he does have a lot of experience under his belt and could prove to be a decent backup to Rob Elliot if the move indeed takes place on deadline day.
