As reported by the Daily Star, Newcastle United failed to sign an unnamed free agent on the final day of the summer transfer window after failing to muster up his wages.
Newcastle United clearly endured a very frustrating time during the summer transfer window and the club’s inability to bring in a single player to St. James’ Park on deadline day would most certainly have angered the club faithful.
Over the past few days, claims have been made that Newcastle failed with pursuits for the likes of Matt Targett and Tom Cairney during the final 24 hours of the window and now in an embarrassing revelation, it has been reported that the Magpies even failed to sign a free agent.
According to the Daily Star, Newcastle were offered the services of an unnamed player on a free transfer but the Tyneside based outfit could not acquire him after being unable to afford his wages.
Whether the story is credible or not remains to be seen but given Newcastle owner Mike Ashley’s stinginess, the report might well be true.
