Spurs flop ‘turned down’ a Deadline Day move to NUFC according to report

As we all know, Newcastle suffered yet another disappointing deadline day at the back end of last month, and an exclusive in The Sun has rubbed salt in the wounds, claiming that even Tottenham flop Vincent Janssen turned down Newcastle’s deadline day offer.

The Dutch striker scored 31 goals for AZ Alkmaar in the 2015/16 season, seeing him earn a £17m move to Spurs last summer. To say that goalscoring form was not replicated at Tottenham was an understatement, with the 23-year old scoring just 2 goals in 24 Premier Leaue appearances.

With our alleged deadline day moves for the likes of Lucas Perez hitting a brick wall, The Sun claim Newcastle offered him an escape route from Spurs, however he rejected and opted to join Turkish giants Fenerbahce on loan instead.

Given his nightmare first season in the Premier League, I won’t be losing much sleep over this, especially given the fact any incoming striker may have instigated the sale of Dwight Gayle.
