After a month out of action following his red card against Spurs on the opening day, Newcastle handed Jonjo Shelvey some valuable minutes for the U-23’s at St. James’ Park last night – and the midfield maestro very nearly scored a sensational goal.
Newcastle were lining up against Norwich U-23’s after two wins in their opening three games in the Premier League 2 and fielded a strong side, including ‘senior’ players Shelvey, Aarons and Woodman.
Shelvey played the full 90 and saw this audacious first-half effort go narrowly wide:

Newcastle ended up surrendering a 2-0 lead, with the game ending 2-2, however it would’ve been worth the entry fee for all who turned up if this one had went in!
