Newcastle United players and the club’s hierarchy have been haggling over the bonus package for the new season, however The Chronicle have now revealed that an agreement has been made thanks to talks between Jamaal Lascelles and Mike Ashley.
The club captain is believed to have made contact with the NUFC owner following extensive discussions between the squad the the powers that be, with a bonus structure now believed to be in place.
The Chronicle confirm that the squad will share £4million should we stay up, with a £1million bonus to be added for every place above 17th in the table. It had been claimed that Ashley would hand out a whopping £20million bonus should we win this year’s FA Cup, however that is yet to be confirmed.
Last season’s promotion winning campaign handed the squad a £5million bonus, with the money said to have been ‘distributed based on how many appearances each player made’.
This season’s bonus package is said to have been a long standing issue amongst players and the top brass, however it seems this has finally been sorted thanks to yet another timely intervention from Jamaal Lascelles – not his first over the past week:
