Boost for NUFC as Liverpool look set to head into Sunday’s game on the back of a difficult week

Newcastle welcome Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool to St. James’ Park on Sunday and whilst the game promises to be one of our toughest to date, the Reds have had a far from ideal week in preparation for the game.

Liverpool were in Champions League action last night and it wasn’t the shortest of trips. They made the long journey to Russia and played all of their big hitters in a frustrating 1-1 draw at Spartak Moscow.

It was another example of them dominating the game to no avail, with a cheap goal being conceded in the first half to give Moscow a lead and Liverpool a fight on their hands.

With Sunday’s game in mind, Klopp would’ve liked last night’s star-studded XI to put the game to bed early on, allowing him to rest the likes of Salah, Firmino and Coutinho for their trip to the North-East. They made hard work of it however, and will have to endure the long trip back to Merseyside with just a point to show for their efforts.

Prior to last night’s game, Klopp’s men had won an enthralling encounter at Leicester on Saturday, winning 3-2, however the German boss was unhappy once again with his sides leaky defence – a reoccurring problem for them this season and something we should look to exploit to the best of our abilities on Sunday.

I’m fully expecting it to be a very tough test this weekend, but it was a long trip and tough work out for Liverpool last night, involving all of their star players. Something that only serves to help us.

We will have had longer to prepare and recover from last weekend’s games and in a game where we’ll need all the help we can get, this might just come in handy.
