Rafa Benitez has been speaking to the media today in his weekly pre-match press conference ahead of Sunday's visit of Liverpool to St. James' Park. Here are some of the key points to take from Rafa's pre-match presser today:
- Confirmation that Paul Dummett and Massadio Haïdara are the only NUFC players out injured - Florian Lejeune returns to the squad, giving Benitez some 'good problems' ahead of his team selection.
- Rafa admits we could be happy as we are in a solid position and 9th in the table, but admits we are not, saying we must improve after last weekend's defeat at Brighton.
- Says Jonjo Shevely is a ‘great player’ and an 'important' one for NUFC ahead of Sunday's game, but refuses to reveal if he'll play.
- He admits the game against Liverpool will be an emotional one for him - but wants three points and to see the Toon Army smiling after the game.
- Benitez praises Liverpool's attack and former player Philipe Coutinho, saying he'll need his team to stay 'strong' and 'solid' if they are to come out of the game with a win.
