NUFC star forced to withdraw from international duty after picking up injury against Liverpool

Newcastle United winger Matt Ritchie has been forced to withdraw from the Scotland squad for their upcoming World Cup qualifiers after picking up an injury in yesterday’s 1-1 draw against Liverpool.

The crowd favourite ran himself into the ground at St James’ last night, being handed the Sky Sports man of the match after covering a whopping 10.7km during the game.

He has since withdrawn from the Scotland squad however. We can only hope the decision is a precaution after a knock and nothing too serious, with Ritchie being one of our first names on the team sheet.

With the international break now upon us, he will have two weeks to recover for our trip to Southampton on the 15th October.

Let’s hope it’s nothing too concerning. He epitomises everything we do well as a team and would be a big miss.
