The exciting development at St James’ Park which could see the atmosphere go up another notch

Some potentially exciting news has emerged this week, with ‘Leazes Flags’ starting a campaign to replicate the brilliant work of Gallowgate Flags, hoping to further improve the atmosphere around the whole of St James’ Park on matchdays by putting on flag displays in the Leazes End.

As we saw once again on Sunday, the brilliant work of Gallowgate Flags has done wonders to create a positive atmosphere at St James’ over the past year and this campaign to replicate their work in the Leazes End is a potentially exciting movement in a bid to create a real spectacle at both ends of the ground.

The group are currently campaigning on Twitter (@FlagsLeazes) and state they are ‘Looking to create a positive atmosphere for players and Mags alike in the Leazes end.’

They are currently searching for volunteers in the Leazes End to help out and make this a reality, and their page is growing by the day (now up to almost 1000 followers) thanks to a positive response from fellow Newcastle fans.

For me, this is a great idea. The thought of St James’ Park being a sea of black and white where all four corners sing as loud as each other is a real exciting one, and if the Leazes End can replicate the superb work done in the Gallowgate then it’d be a real step towards creating an electric atmosphere all round our magnificent stadium.

If you’re on twitter, give Leazes Flags a follow here and get in touch if you are keen to help out!

Who wouldn’t want to see more of this around St James’ Park on a Saturday afternoon!

  1. I would rather see a standing/singing section the same as Glasgow Celtic to take up the support and atmosphere up another notch.
