NUFC scouts in attendance as striker target scores 2 superb goals in World Cup qualifying last night

Turkish media claim Newcastle United had representatives in attendance to watch Cenk Tosun in World Cup qualifying action last night  – and the Besiktas striker is likely to have impressed, scoring two well taken goals in Turkey’s 2-2 draw in Finland.

Here’s his two strikes for Turkey last night that will be sure to have caught the eye of NUFC scouts watching on:

In the fall out from the summer transfer window it was reported that we failed in an attempt to sign the 27-goal forward on deadline-day, and NUFC scouts’ presence at Turkey’s World Cup qualifiers indicate he is a player Benitez wants to keep a close eye on.

Tosun scored 27 goals for the Turkish champions last term and has started this season in similar fashion, netting four times for his club and three goals for his country since the season began.

Given Mike Ashley’s uncertain future, it remains to be seen whether Benitez will even be handed funds to improve his squad in January, but Tosun could be one to watch if he does.
