A round up of all of today’s NUFC related news and gossip:

  • Speaking to Spanish newspaper MARCA today, Rafa Benitez has responded to questions surrounding the Spanish national job and a potential return to Liverpool some day,  insisting that he isn’t considering either, reiterating his desire to achieve things on Tyneside over the coming years – and even suggesting that we could be his last club!
  • Saturday’s game saw another superb flag display put on in the Gallowgate and club captain Jamaal Lascelles has admitted just how ‘honoured’ he feels for the NUFC fans to make a flag of him. WATCH his reaction HERE.
  • NUFC new-boy Mikel Merino has sent an impressive message to his adoring fans following his match winning goal on Saturday, admitting he has ‘big ambitions’ in the game – but firmly believing that he has everything he needs at Newcastle United to achieve them with us.

  • Rafa Benitez has admitted that he has ‘kept up the communication’ with Andros Townsend since he left the club last summer, with the gaffer suggesting that the Crystal Palace winger was wrong to leave Newcastle United when he did.
  • Two interesting developments that could well alert Newcastle United ahead of the January transfer window, with reports claiming that Chelsea and Liverpool will allow strikers Michy Batshuayi and Danny Ings respectively to head out on loan this winter – being two players Rafa Benitez is believed to have made enquiries for over the summer.
