The pair endured a pretty woeful year at Newcastle last season and it hasn’t got much better for Matz Sels and Achraf Lazaar this year, with both their loan moves to Anderlecht and Benevento respectively taking a turn for the worse.
Starting with Sels, who secured a loan move to Belgian giants Anderlecht over the summer. He had dropped out of the first team following the sacking of a man who brought him to the cub – Rene Weiler – and was given his chance in the Champions League against PSG last week,
He was at fault for two of the visitors’ four goals in a 4-0 hammering and that performance saw him return to the bench in his sides home defeat to Genk over the weekend.
Then to Lazaar. He is with newly promoted Italian side Benevento – a team who are yet to gain a single point in 9 games this season in Serie A.
Not only was he slated on his full debut and often subbed off around the hour mark, he has been dropped in their last three games – suggesting he’s been anything but impress considering how badly his side have been struggling!
Perhaps those who campaigned for him to get playing time last season now know that there is a reason for his exclusion.

I can’t say they’ll be impressing Rafa. It’s looking ominous for the pair as far as their NUFC careers are concerned.
