Paul Merson makes prediction for Burnley vs Newcastle – and it’s his best one yet!

Paul Merson is back again with a prediction for Monday night’s trip to Turf Moor, but it’s not what you might have been expecting – he’s finally got us down to win at the TENTH time of asking!

If Paul’s weekly predictions had rung true over the previous nine games, we’d be joint bottom of the table on 4 points, however he has finally gone for us to win at Burnley on Monday night.

Prior to this,  he’s predicted us to get a point at Huddersfield and Brighton and home draws against Stoke and Palace, but that’s as good as it’s got up until now. He had Spurs to hammer us, West ham to beat us 0-2,  said Swansea would have ‘too much for us’, didn’t see us coping with Liverpool and predicted a defeat at Southampton too.

Here’s his assessment of Burnley on Monday night

“I haven’t gone for Newcastle to win once this season but that changes today! Burnley’s home form has been a little shaky and Newcastle are on a roll.

“They did well against Southampton and the Palace win was big for them. They are punching well above their weight – if they finish sixth Rafa Benitez will be manager of the season.

“The name of the game remains safety and hopefully for Newcastle fans their club will be in a position in January to have a real go in the FA Cup. That would be brilliant.”

(Merson’s prediction: Burnley 1-2 Newcastle)

Finally he has acknowledged that we’re actually doing quite well this season!

He’s nearly always disregarded what we’ve been doing so far, but he’s actually got it pretty spot on here and is surprisingly complimentary.

That being said, he nearly always gets it wrong, so you can fully expect a Burnley win in front of the Sky camera’s on Monday night!!
