TEAM NEWS – Benitez makes ONE shock change to the NUFC team to play Burnley tonight

The teams are out for tonight’s 8pm kick off at Turf Moor and Rafa Benitez has made ONE surprise change from the side that won 1-0 against Crystal Palace, bringing in Mo Diame for Isaac Hayden for his first start of the season – Mikel Merino misses out entirely with a back problem.

OUT – Hayden IN – Diame

Here’s the team we’ll see line-up at Burnley on Sky Sports tonight:

Newcastle United XI – (4-2-3-1) – Elliot – Yedlin, Lascelles, Lejeune, Manquillo – Diame, Shelvey – Ritchie, Perez , Atsu – Joselu. (SUBS-Darlow, Clark, Gamez, Hayden, Saivet, Murphy, Gayle)

  • Diame STARTS, partnering Shelvey in midfield, leaving Hayden to settle for a place on the bench.
  • Merino OUT of the squad with a back injury.
  • Joselu keeps his place up top, with Gayle taking a place on the bench. Mitrovic is NOT included in the matchday squad.
  • Saivet in the squad for the first time this season.
  • Lejeune and Lascelles continue at centre-back, seeing Clark remain on the bench and Mbemba left out once again.

Burnley XI (4-5-1): Pope – Lowton, Tarkowski, Mee, Ward –  Brady, Defour, Cork,Hendrick, Gudmundsson – Barnes.

No Wood or Vokes for Burnley!

  1. Bad news for Rafa being without Merino but bad for Burnley as well without Woods and Vokes so it should be interesting
