Revealed: Rafa given green light to do January loan deal for Premier League striker – takeover or no takeover

Some potentially big transfer news coming from The Chronicle today, who reveal that Rafa Benitez is looking to bring Liverpool striker Danny Ings in on a loan in January – a deal they claim WILL be sanctioned at NUFC regardless of  a takeover occurring between now and the upcoming transfer window.

As you’d expect, the report restates Rafa’s desire to bring in some much needed firepower up front in January, however also reveals that Benitez would ideally like TWO new strikers this winter.

It is stated that bringing in two forwards would depend on Aleksandar Mitrovic being sold however, with the out of favour Serbian said to be available for purchase IF the right offer arrived for him in January.

Back to Ings – it is understood that Liverpool would be willing to let the 25-year old forward go out on loan this winter, with him featuring just once this season in the League Cup since making his full return from a long-term injury.

He looked in great shape for Liverpool’s under-23s on his return against Bristol City earlier this month if this clip is anything to go by, seeing him score four and set up two in a highly impressive display:

It may have been at U-23 level, but there’s some superb bits of play from him here. Also worth mentioning that the Liverpool Echo praised his ‘incredible work rate’ in the game and commendable attitude since he’s returned from injury.

Whilst his recent injury record in mind, he could be seen as somewhat of a risk, but I think he’d be a risk worth taking, with him being a capable striker who’ll be chomping at the bit to get back playing football in the Premier League now he’s fully fit again.

Let us know your thoughts folks! Would you be happy with the loan signing of Ings in January?!
