One of NUFC’s most hated men confirmed as a contestant on this year’s ‘I’m a Celebrity’

An amusing announcement this week, with it being revealed that former NUFC villain Dennis Wise will be appearing on this year’s ‘I’m a Celebrity..Get Me Out of Here’.

The former Chelsea midfielder is in Australia as we speak, with the ITV series all set to kick-off at 9pm on Sunday night – seeing Wise appear alongside the likes of pro boxer Amir Khan and Boris Johnson’s dad!

Wise served as ‘executive director of football’ on Tyneside between January 2008 and April 2009, seeing us relegated to the Championship just a month after he left his role at the club.

To sat he wasn’t a hit with the NUFC fans was an understatement and it’s easy to see why, having advised Kevin Keegan to watch clips of flops Xisco and Nacho on Youtube ahead of the club signing them – something Keegan clearly had no control over.

Actions like this totally undermined Keegan’s role as manager in his second stint at the club, leading to his resignation in 2008.

Given his unpopularity with NUFC fans, it’ll be interesting to see how fellow Geordies and show hosts Ant and Dec react to his appearance on the show!

If there’s enough of the Toon Army tuning in, you can expect to see him do a few bush-tucker trials!
