Alan Shearer fires back with brilliant response when challenged by a Sunderland fan on Twitter

Alan Shearer has reacted brilliantly to some goading from Sunderland fan Paul Collingwood on Twitter, saying even two Tyne & Wear derby wins wouldn’t get the Mackems out of the mess they’re in right now.

Prior to Rafa Benitez’s 1-1 draw against Sunderland at St James’ last March, the Mackems had won the last six Tyne and Wear derby’s, and former England cricketer reminded Shearer of that, claiming that they were only struggling as they didn’t have their usual 6 points this season.

Shearer responded perfectly however, stating that even two wins against the Mags wouldn’t do much for their abysmal league position:

He’s not wrong either, with bottom of the Championship Sunderland 4 points from safety and setting an unwanted English record in their draw with Millwall at the Stadium of Light over the weekend.

They became the first team in English football history to fail to win in 20 successive home games in all competitions – showing just what a mammoth task new boss Chris Coleman has on his hands.
