According to The Mirror, Rafa Benitez will make an attempt to broker a loan deal for forgotten Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw in January – believing the England international could ‘reignite’ his stuttering career at St James’ Park.
Shaw, still just 22, has struggled with injuries in recent years and has been unable to nail down regular game time at Old Trafford under Jose Mourinho.
Mourinho is said to be ‘open’ to allowing joining a fellow Premier League club on loan in January, but that’s all it would be – with our lack of finances making a permanent deal seem out of the question for a player who joined Man Utd for just shy of £30m three years ago.
As stated in The Mirror, Benitez is desperate to bring in a top class left back to the club, and Shaw is understood to be ‘desperate’ for regular first-team football in the Premier League – suggesting a deal could be a go-er.
It’s one that’s worth looking at, but it can’t be forgotten that wages and a potential loan fee would mean he wouldn’t come cheap, with questions still looming over his fitness levels after so many injuries since his arrival at Old Trafford three years ago.
Let us know your thoughts folks. If possible, would you be interested in bringing Luke Shaw in on loan in January?
Yes, he is a Rafa type player but unsure the club will pay the money or he will choose other options over the Toon.
If Ashley doesn’t sell we are in deep trouble… 🙄
