After a barren run of form for Newcastle U-23’s, Peter Beardsley’s reserves hit Swansea for six in their Premier League 2 International Cup fixture at Little Benton yesterday – with Geordie prospect Tom Heardman scoring four times in an impressive attacking display.
With just one win in their last 5 prior to this, it was a much needed victory for the second string, and an impressive one at that.
Senior players Massadio Haidara, Jack Colback and Henri Saivet all started, but it was Colback who opened the scoring after 11 minutes with a low drive (watch it below).
It was 22-year old Gosforth born striker Tom Heardman who stole the show however, scoring four times in a free scoring victory over a Swansea side in division 1 of the Premier League 2 (the division above Newcastle which we narrowly missed out on promotion to last season).
