NUFC confirmed to be ‘one of several’ clubs scouting highly rated striker

According to the Daily Mail, Newcastle United have been sending scouts to watch highly rated BSC Young Boys striker Yannick Toure – the 17-year old Swiss sensation who is attracting interest from several clubs.

The 6ft 1′ forward has six goals in seven games in their youth set-up so far this season, but, due to his age, he would be available for a compensation fee set by FIFA, having been yet to sign a new contract with Young Boys.

The Senegalese born striker holds a Swiss passport and recently made his first appearance for the Switzerland U-17 set up – scoring two goals on his debut over the summer. We’ve heard this all a thousand times before, but he’s tipped as being the next big thing to come out of Switzerland.

With a proven goalscorer top of our agenda ahead of the January window, Toure is obviously not the answer, but given our youth talent has often underwhelmed in recent years, the 17-year old sounds like the latest highly-rated teenager Benitez is keen to recruit.

Rafa signed the likes of Spanish winger Victor Fernandez and Arsenal defender Stefan O’connor over the summer, so it seems fresh young talent is still on our agenda in the windows to come.

Here’s some clips of Toure in action this season:
