The draw for the Third Round of the FA Cup has been made live on BBC in the last few moments and we have been drawn at home to League Two side Luton Town – with the game set to take place on the weekend beginning Saturday 6th January at St. James’ Park.
Luton may be in the FOURTH tier of English football, but they are top of League Two – being level on points with Kevin Nolan and Shola Ameobi’s Notts County.
Ironically, they knocked out Gateshead in the Second Round, so they’ll be heading back to the North-East for this one.

Also worth mentioning that it will be a dream draw for Rob Lee, with his TWO sons Olly and Elliot both playing for Luton!

With our infamous long wait for a trophy, Rafa Benitez arrival has given us fresh hope of ending our barren spell without silverware – and there was some proof of that last season, with us reaching the quarter-final of the League Cup.
Cup competition hasn’t been too kind to us so far this season however, with us being dumped out of Carabo Cup in the second round in a disappointing 3-2 home defeat to Nottingham Forest.
Last year’s FA Cup campaign wasn’t much better either. We fielded a team with several first team hopefuls, but it didn’t quite go to plan as United were dumped out in Round 4 in a 3-0 defeat at Oxford.
A good draw, but let that be a warning that we shouldn’t take an in-form Luton side lightly!
