According to The Mirror, Newcastle winger Rolando Aarons in a man in demand, with Crystal Palace, Huddersfield and Aston Villa set to battle for his signature in January after seeing his game-time limited under Rafa Benitez so far this season.
It is reported that the three clubs hope he will be available for a ‘cut-price fee’ this winter, but despite his lack of playing time, I’m not convinced Benitez will be open to selling.
Rafa has often insisted that he is a fan of Aarons, and although he’s yet to be handed a real run in the team, he’s tended made an impact when handed his chance this season.
He scored a stunning goal and bagged an assist in our Carabo cup defeat to Nottingham Forest back in August, and made a good impression in a late cameo appearance in the 2-2 draw at West Brom last week.
There will come a point where he’ll have to assess his options if he continues to be on the fringes at NUFC, but I get the feeling Benitez would be reluctant to let him go – especially given our limited options out wide.
A loan move for regular first-team football in the Championship could be a wise January move for all parties, but I wouldn’t be letting him go just yet.
