Jamaal Lascelles offers injury update to NUFC fans ahead of Saturday’s crucial clash with Leicester

Speaking to NUFC TV following a Q & A with Newcastle United fans at the Nine Bar last night, Jamaal Lascelles provided an update on his fitness ahead of Saturday’s game with Leicester, revealing that he is hopeful of returning from injury this weekend – providing he gets on ok in training tomorrow.

The skipper has been sorely missed ever since he was forced off against Bournemouth last month. He limped off at 0-0, and, since then, we not only went on to lose that one in the 92nd minute, but have gone on to lose 3 of our next 4 without him – conceding 12 goals in the process!

We’ve missed his leadership and tenacity at the back and haven’t looked the same without him.

Speaking to NUFC TV, here’s what he had to say about his current fitness levels ahead of Saturdays’ visit of Leicester City:

“I trained a bit today and that gave me a good indicator of how my foot is holding up.

“I will be training again tomorrow and I’ll see how I get on.

“I have said before that it is hard to watch – especially when the team isn’t doing great.

“I am going to try my best to get fit as soon as possible and fingers crossed it is Saturday.”

We’ve conceded an average of THREE goals a game in his absence over the past month, so seeing him return to the side on Saturday would be a huge boost ahead of what really is a huge game for the club.

Leicester are in-form and with Vardy and Mahrez likely to pose a real threat to our out of sorts defence, having Lascelles back could be massive.

Fingers crossed he comes through the training ok and is back in the side on Saturday.
