Some great news for NUFC winger Jacob Murphy today, with the 22-year winning our player of the month award for November – earning 62% of the vote ahead of fellow nominees Ciaran Clark and Isaac Hayden.
The £10m summer signing endured a difficult start to life on Tyneside, struggling to make any sort of impact and often looking like a rabbit in the headlights when brought on for brief cameo appearances.
Following Christian Atsu’s injury, Murphy has grabbed his opportunity with both hands over the last month, showing several glimpses of just why he was our most expensive signing of the summer.
He made his first league start in a promising display at Old Trafford, was without doubt the only player who performed in the horrendous home defeat to Watford and showed more glimpses of his talent in the 2-2 draw at West Brom.
Not the best month for us collectively, but privileged to have gained this award! Thankyou to all that voted and the great support & love shown recently. I appreciate you! ⚫️⚪️ hwtl https://t.co/wb0uW6YCV4

He received some heavy criticism after an unconvincing start to his NUFC career, but it’s been great to see him show us what he’s all about over the last few weeks.
He’s still got a lot to learn and still looks raw, but this will do his improved confidence levels the world of good ahead of this weekend’s crucial clash with Leicester.
He will be presented with the award before the game on Saturday night.
Well done Jacob!
