It’s the news we’ve been waiting for folks! Breaking news in the last few moments that Mike Ashley is now close to agreeing a takeover by Amanda Staveley and PCP Capital Partners, with confirmation that a £300m bid has now been submitted and ‘significant progress’ has been made over the last few days.
After some unbearable silence on the matter over the past weeks weeks, it looks like we NUFC fans could be gifted the best Christmas present any of us could’ve hoped for.
Staveley’s initial bid was said to have been swiftly rejected by Ashley, however talk of an improved £300m bid and a compromise on both sides suggests a deal is now very close.
Maybe there was more to their curry last week than we initially thought. A celebratory meal following an agreed price perhaps??
Here’s what all the local and national Journalists have been saying about the deal in the last few moments:
There would, I understand, be compromises on both sides: some money to be released for transfers next month, even if a deal not finalised, and the continuation of Sports Direct ads for a limited period.
