According to Talksport, Newcastle will make moves for Atletico Madrid’s Kevin Gameiro, Besiktas’ Cenk Tosun and Real Madrid stopper Kiko Casilla next month – with some much needed financial backing looking likely to arrive this winter after Amanada Staveley’s takeover deal edges closer.
Gameiro is believed to have been told he has no future at Atletico, with Diego Costa’s arrival set to put him further down the forward pecking order. He is a name that’s been linked to us on several occasions in the past.
The same can be said about Cenk Tosun, however the in-form Besiktas striker looks ambitious to put it mildly given he doesn’t look like being sold for less than £20.
Kiko Casilla is Real Madrid’s back up goalkeeper and he’s a name Benitez was believed to have been considering over the summer if the Chronicle are to be believed.
‘Fresh reports today from TalkSport than United are targeting Kevin Gamerio, Cenk Tosun and Kiko Casilla in a January transfer spree. We know that Benitez has sent scouts to watch Tosun and did enquire about Casilla in the summer.’
‘There was previous interest in Gamerio but that was many seasons ago.’
For me, Gameiro and Tosun looks pretty unlikely, although a deal for Casilla seems believable given our need for a goalkeeper, his lack of game time in Spain and Rafa’s links with Real Madrid.
Lots of talk about transfers and takeovers. Time for action.
