Jermaine Jenas sends strong message to ‘ridiculous’ NUFC fans in BT Sport rant

Former midfielder Jermaine Jenas has hit out at NUFC fans in a bold rant from the BT Sport pundit, claiming fans are ‘ridiculous’ to be calling for Rafa Benitez’s head – claiming no new manager would do a better job than Benitez given the ‘Championship side’ at his disposal.

This is a passionate plea to United from Jenas, however a lot of what he says here is not wrong. Whilst claims that it’s ‘remarkable’ that we aren’t bottom of the league are a little far fetched, I totally agree with the rest of his comments.

Here’s what the 34-year-old had to say to frustrated NUFC fans when speaking on BT Sport over the weekend”

“Calling for Benitez’s head is ridiculous,”

“It’s a Championship side that they’ve got there. It’s remarkable that they’re in a position they’re in and not already bottom.

“You can chant for a new manager, but if he comes in he’s not going to do a better job than Rafa.”

If you’re an NUFC fan reading this who is genuinely believes we’d be better off without Benitez, I ask you to comment with a realistic alternative who could do any better?

Benitez is NOT above criticism, but anyone hounding out the best manager we’ve had since Sir Bobby ought to give their head a shake.

It may only be the minority calling for the managers head, but it’s woefully short sighted to honestly believe he is the real problem here.

Let’s rally around Rafa and the players and help OUR team fight off relegation.

  1. I go home and away every match and ive not heard one chant for benitez to go, ive heard quite a few wonder about some of his selections but questioning isn’t the same as wanting someone to go.

more people want shelve to go after his stupid sending off yet again, and id agree with them as his lack of thought and commitment give us nothing but hassle,

all his sending ofs bans have been avoidable, not one has saved a certain goal from being scored

We read the comments on our facebook page mate – it’s the minority, but quite a few have somehow said they think he might need to go. Ridiculous.

  4. Totally agree that there are some who are too quick to jump on players/Rafas back.
This is becoming a worrying trend and certainly one that can’t do any good however you look at it.

If you can stomach it jump over to Ed Harrisons blog and read some of the pure vitriol spouted over there, it’s embarrassing to say the least.

  5. Go away Jenus, you ****! Reading to many keyboard warriors again….
No one has anything but support for Rafa and his tough job he has dealing with a championship side in the premier league, and an idiot of a boss..

  6. These will be the same idiots who hounded out SBR – but won’t admit it now.
It’s not just those on Ed’s blog – they’re a minority on there – but read The Mag for crazy comments – some on there want Keegan back ffs.
These are ‘fans’ who’ve never been inside SJP and frankly, who gives one what they think?
